Palo Alto, California, February 24, 1999 Analogical Systems today announced the availability of the VoicePump-6000, a digital signal processing (DSP) software package for Voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) gateways. The software, one of the industrys first based upon Texas Instruments powerful TMS320C6000 family, offers several times the channel density of existing VoIP gateway solutions.
Analogical Systems will be demonstrating the VoicePump-6000 software at next weeks Computer Telephony Expo in Los Angeles. The demo is a sample VoIP gateway configuration based upon the VoicePump-6000 software and consists of the following major components:
- Texas Instruments TMS320C6201 Multichannel Evaluation Module (McEVM) PCI board
- elemedia H.323 version 2.0 protocol stack running on the Windows NT host
- Analogical Systems TMS320C6000 family VoicePump-6000 DSP firmware for speech coding, echo cancellation, and DTMF signaling
The resulting integrated system is a scaleable, H.323-compliant VoIP gateway that only requires a Windows NT host with one or more McEVM boards, together with the VoicePump-6000 software and elemedia H.323 stack. Most ITU-T standard speech codecs as well as Analogical Systems proprietary, multirate AS-CELP speech codec are supported. An evaluation version of the VoicePump-6000 software is available which is ready-to-run on the McEVM board and allows rapid prototyping and evaluation of the TMS320C6000 family for VoIP applications.
The interest in using our TMS320C6000 family for VoIP applications continues to grow, said Julie Koelsch, TIs VoIP business manager. The availability of the VoicePump-6000 software will allow our customers designing such systems to bring their products to market quickly and cost-effectively. The combination of Texas Instruments new McEVM board and Analogical Systems evaluation version of the VoicePump-6000 software permits our customers to rapidly prototype and evaluate the capabilities of both without a significant investment in either hardware or VoIP software development.
In making todays announcement, Analogical Systems president Cole Erskine stated, Today, the TMS320C6000 family has allowed us to achieve a much higher VoIP port density with our software than is possible with conventional DSPs. For the future, TIs commitment to enhancing the C6000 product family combined with Analogical Systems continually enhanced VoIP software will together ensure the availability of more highly integrated, cost-effective generations of VoIP gateway platforms.
