We teach Hebrew as a living modern language. Our Hebrew staff is comprised of native Israelis to assure exposure to the correct accent and to authentic culture. The goal of our program is to impart a variety of language skills, such as reading comprehension, conversational proficiency and writing ability. The study of the Hebrew language facilitates the students understanding of modern and ancient texts, connecting them to Jewish people worldwide.
Hebrew is taught in each grade beginning in kindergarten. Native Hebrew speakers learn with their peers from the first grade and on using authentic material from Israel. Beginning in the second grade, Hebrew is taught in small groups to accommodate a wide range of abilities. Students entering our school after first grade are required to be tutored to learn to read Hebrew and to become familiar with cursive writing. These students receive special guidance so that they can quickly integrate into the regular Hebrew program.
